Ported Number, Activation Issues, but old phone working

I'm a new customer who just switched to AT&T this morning and picked up a 3G. I went through the process of porting my number at the store with the representative, then was told to come home to activate my phone.

I'm (obviously) experiencing the same issues as everyone else, however my old phone is still working (to my delight) - the representative told me that my number should have been ported at no later than 10:00am CST, so now i'm just concerned that even after I do manage this activation process through iTunes that i'll have some porting problem - is this the case?

Additionally, my iphone has "No Service" at the top, is this normal for the state my phone is currently in?

porting sometimes takes 24 hours to be 100% complete

Once your iPhone is active, if the number has not been ported, you'll be able to make calls on the iPhone but you'll still receive your calls on the old phone (as well as being able to make them). When the number has been ported, your old phone will stop working.
