Somewhat 'sluggish' so far...

I haven't been doing too much with my phone so far, just sync'n it up, adding in my custom ring tones that I had on my previous iPhone and setting up wifi, etc. Haven't downloaded any Apps or anything. I've got various music and movies with about 2.8gb free on my 8gb iPhone.

But the problem I'm really starting to notice more and more is that it's quite sluggish when going from screen to screen, and more often than not, I'm having to hit the Home button more than once to get it to go back.

I never noticed anything like this with my 2g model, anyone else noticing it?

I too notice this. I even had to restore twice already. Everything seems more sluggish than my 2g, especially the contacts. It's better if I go to contact from phone, but when going directly to contacts it's very slow to action.

Maybe I just expected too much, or I do have a problem phone :-)

Will play will several more days and see.

this is the first version also, usually first versions of everything aren't up to par, should all be fixed with firmware updates

Not for me! My firmware is 1.1.4 and my iphone is still in great condition. The only downside I noticed is that the battery didn't last long as it used to, but that is expected

I played with 3 demos in the store, the only sluggish issue that I really noticed was the Contacts hesitated to open (switched to blank white screen for a second or two, then contacts appearred) when using the icon in certain situations, but not always. Seemed to be similar issue in all 3 I tried. Many other operations I tried seemed fine.

As with any new iPhone, do a reset. (hold down home and standby until the white apple appears). This often fixes everything from Safari to GPS.

If it's still sluggish after that, then perhaps they lowered the CPU speed to conserve battery for 3G.
