I know there was a lot of speculation about the back of the iphone(esp black) getting scratched up easily. All i have to say is two days always in my pocket, caseless, its still brand new. It stays in the pocket most of the time.. so im happy with how resistant the back is.

I'm very happy with the new back, no scratches on mine yet, the plastic seem to be pretty durable..

I was concerned about it feeling cheap compared to the metal but I got to say that it feel great and the black does not show smudges as bad as people think

Yeah, I agree, the new back is very nice.

Smudges or not, I like the new back (black one). I don't tend to look at the back too much so I really don't care how it appears. I like the feel more and it fits better in the pocket.
I was doubtful at first, now we'll just have to see the durability of it...

yea. I have to agree. The entire feel of this baby is great.

I like it, but the build quality doesn't feel as durable as the first model. It def does help with signal strength though. It also makes the phone feel Alot lighter.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my white iPhone's back. Definately feels better in hand versus last year's model.

It's also not as slippery as the first one.

I would agree, I like the new back better than the old one. It actually makes the phone look better in my opinion..But yea it does show the smudges now on front and back, but who cares looks and feels better...Not really sure it helps the reception though. While I like both versions of the Iphone and its great email, and web surfing experience; the reception on either Iphone is terrible compared to Windows Mobile phones. I get three or four bars of 3g on my Tilt and Athena in my living room and 1 and sometimes none on my 2G and 3g Iphones. As the old iphone did, the bars fluctuate often even in the same place. I wonder if the bars really do not accurately indicate the actual signal..Just a thought.
