HTC Touch aluminum case?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone uses an aluminum case similar to this one? and if so how bulky does it make the touch? And are there any places in the GTA that sells them?

The aluminum case looks great but it might not be as practical as a leather case. Remember that a case is supposed to protect your phone.
The transference of shock from your phone in an aluminum case to the floor is greater than dropping it with a leather one as it will absorb the shock more.
Considering that the Touch is already rubberized you needn't be concerned about surface scratches.
A screen protector is something you should also look at.

The neoprene liner would protect it from shock far more than leather would.

That case looks pretty nice, although I seem to have it in my pocket more often than the leather case that came with it.

The problem I see with the case is that they same it fits both the GSM and CDMA Touch phones. I was under the impression that the camera was located in different positions and they were slightly different dimensions.

how bout a total case/shell replacement? are there any sites that sell that. I'd be interested in a 3rd party alumimun shell for the touch, heck a replacement bell/telus/oem case/shell would be nice if my original gets too damaged

bump for any feedback re: aluminum or hard cases

thanks in advanced

You are quite right. I bought a silicone skin advertised for the CDMA Vogue (Sprint edition) which is supposed to be identical to Bell's but the holes on the back must be for the GSM version as they don't line up properly. The opening for the camera lens is plenty large but the antenna connector (which nobody uses, so it doesn't matter) is at 11 o'clock on the Bell version while the silicone skin opening is at 12 o'clock. The opening for the speaker is off as well and about half the speaker is covered by the silicone skin. It doesn't seem to matter much really and if it did a simple cut in the rubber skin would fix it.

There were two types of silicone skins on fleebay when I bought mine. I got the one which has a clear opening for the main joystick button. The other hard buttons are covered but they still function properly. Overall I'd say that the 2 mm thick skin offers a lot of protection. I have seen people drop their Touch, with the back cover and battery flying all over the place...

I actually decided not to go with an aluminum or silicon case. I just have a vertical leather pouch and an invisible shield on the screen. I didn't want to add any bulk to the phone.

This is the case I got and I love it. Very well made:

I've got a leather beyza case as well...vintage black. it's awesome, it fits great and gets softer and better fitting with age. highly recommended...
