Dock Not recognized

Lately, my iPhone has been telling me that the dock that came in the box isn't supported and the phone should be put in Airplane Mode. Sometimes it does it right when I plug it in, other times it does it a few minutes after I plug it in. What is going on here?

Try a different dock. If the problem persists, have your iPhone repaired/replaced.

The old-style docks and cables seem to have something different about them for the new phones. You can use them, but the iPhone 3G gets a little fussy about them. I suspect some difference in pin behavior or line impedance or something. My new synch cable works without a problem; the old cable gives the warning, then works.
