Talk me out of the Iphone 3g

I am due for an upgrade in August and what suggestion on what to get. I currently have the Blackjack 1 and it does everything I need it to do. Is there any phone out there at the $200 or less range that is better. I mainly use my phone for calls(duh of course), internet browsing and email.

Why not just get the BJ II and call it a day? Noticable improvemets were made to it from the 1st gen handset. Since your phone usage is limited to e-mail, make/receive calls, and internet surfing, I can't think of a good reason to talk you out of a newer IPhone as all forementioned tasks should work for you with it. Now if you were what others might consider a "power user," then i'd have plenty of reasons for you NOT to. Continue to keep it simple is my suggestion.

Thanks but the BJII has been out almost a year now and I do not want to "waste" my upgrade on a unit that has been out that long.

Try the iphone. It is prety nice. missing a few thing but still pretty interesting and fun.

Look, since you want the lastest/greatest devices (I can't blame you cause I am like that too) and you do not want any to waste your upgrade on a phone that's been out for 10 months (IE Tilt/BJ2/Moto Q Global/Curve 8310), you are going to have to wait maybe 1-2 more months for that device.

ATT is not stupid. They know the iPhone 3g was released on July 11th and is going to kill off sales of new phones are will be introduce. So don't expect any new release phones probably until September. I know the BB Bold was supposed to be released but even that is being delayed. The BB Bold is what I would recommend because blackberries are known for their phone first, emails second, and now with the new processores, their internet functions are going to be pretty good. However, the Bold probably will be expensive when they are first released.

Can you just exchange sim's with a BB like you do between Iphone,WM6 and s60 devices. I would love to try one but always thought you needed a special BB account that is dissimilar to the others.

Have you seen all the problems associated with the 3G iphone? Granted everyone hasn't had those problems, more than 50% have. I recommend a Blackberry. But the iphone is a good device. It really all depends on what exactly you need from the device. With that in mind, the iphone might work out best for you. I am a Blackberry person, but they aren't for everyone.
