Funny that this subforum exists... I mean, there really aren't many ways to mod Ericssons...

If you have a T28, you can change the faceplate... you can buy them at CellPhoneShop.net... They're just like the normal T28 face but in different colors... install at your own risk!

If you have a T28, T39 or R520, you can get an IAT-10 retractable antenna... It is designed to enhance reception for 900mhz GSM (Europe, Asia) but it will work slightly for 1900mhz (North America). You can get them for about ~$25 on eBay. It's very easy to install.

Well, on the Ericsson T68

In Europe people have changed Ericsson change the faceplate from Lunar Grey to Ziroccan Gold

Also, someone changed the LED from Amber to Blue.

What about mods like ringtones and graphics?
The R520m at least has it's own drawing program built in to edit pics and can create 10 ringtones?
Why does this thread not mention this or have links to resources (I have found NO way to download stuff over the air to my phone in USA, there are plenty of services like this for free in UK
And there are many LED and antenna mods for all phones available from many websites etc

i wanna change the EL backlight on my R520m to some cool blue EL backlight just like on my older G-Shock! ooh. nice stuff...

some Blue LEDs for the keypad! ahh, extremely nice!

I don't get it, mine are already blue direct from Ericsson?
...they fade when they turn off too (which I thought was pretty cool)
I bought mine from www.expansys.com
But I am sure that the silver R520m is supposed to use blue leds

LOL, you colourblind? LOL they're greenish EL backlight w/ green LEDs for the keypad. you must have some modded item from expansys. i don't know?!?!

Ok, to be honest the leds are a greensih blue = turquoise, aquamarine...whatever. They are certainly NOT green though.

i've done that T28 on my friends fone awhile ago.. almost a year.. it's not hard.. but i was scared.. but he said he got 2 T28, so it doesn't matter if i ruined it, he will fix it..

Don't do it! I changed mine after a few days of working on it, and when I finally got it all back together the backlight, vibrator, and flip sensor stopped working! (but it did give me an excuse to upgrade to a T39

)

I got a R300z for Cingular in my posession, and I wonder if a T28 data cable and Ericsson unlocker will work on it? Also, the phone is quite easy to open, and want to know if there is any place to buy white or light blue LEDs in the US?

You can simply call Cingular and ask them for the unlock code, no need to use a cable.

I did changed the faceplate once for my T18 long time ago (because there're some minor scratches on the flip, and I saw a silvery purple one which looks kind of nice, so I wanted to change its look... anyway...). I don't really recommend ppl to do the changing because it looks worser than the original one, especially after using it for a month (or less than that), you can see the weirdness of the faceplate coming out. I felt regret after I did that (needless to say I'd wasted my $$ on it), and I rather use the original's slight scratched one back (too bad I gave it to someone else

) So I think just leave it alone is a good idea

I don't think that there is a point to modding these types of phones... T68s look good the way they are... but the T39 would look much better with white LEDs...

Always like to personalise my phone. And when I saw the flashing LED antenna I thought it was good start. It wasn't the case though... ha...

T28 has the unsual shape for its antenna, (unlike most phones that are round at the base)... due to the awkward base, the aftermarket antenna just have an ugly base attachement to it, so the antenna no longer flowed with phone itself. so I end up using my original antenna.

I wish I could change my keypad and screen to a light blue color though, blue phone, blue keypad, makes sense right? But I don't anyone makes anything for them... hehe...

I never knew this but....
They have T68 aftermarket faceplates now!
I saw a few a couple days ago, and they didn't look as nice as the original ones, but they where different... I like the silver part where the words Ericsson are writen, but on these ones it wasnt' there... so it looked solid in one color, like white (best one)...

If you have a T68 consider getting one!

yes it would be great..but at least the r520 has better lighthing on the keypad area then the t39..if the t39 keypad lights could be transfered to the r520,it would look great..sides, i like the t39 keypad light,greenish white in colour..

both phones have diff colours for the keypad lights?

you will have to look at the keypad lights in dark area..the r520 keypad lights are green like the screen,but the t39 that i have has the same screen colour as the r520 but the keypad light(t39) is greenish white,more to white colour then green...btw my t39 colour is rose white...maybe is batch problem

Actually mine, T68m is a waterset. So I am not scare about the warranty. My T68m I already upgrade to T68mc with Chinese Input. But my T9 already gone.

Just bought a IrDA device, now I am using my GF picture as the wallpaper.

I feel that BLUE LED quite comment at here. I think to be different, so change it to ULTRA WHITE LED.

Still waiting for the MMS to available.

to me blue white is alredy too common already....better install purple led,or transfer the 8850 keypad led to the t68 keypad..

Fren, I think your picture must be too big. Try to reduce it to

101 * 80 should be OK.
