So i went into the bell store today and was going to pickup a lg vantage, and was told that i had to phone 30 days ahead of time to cancel my current contract....but the thing is that i signed up for a 3 year contract..and it expires sept 5..does that mean i had to call 30 days before sept 5th to get it cancelled...shouldnt it cancel itself after 3 yrs? or shouldnt they be able to cancel it immediatly on sept 5th since my contract expires?

They don't cancel your account after the contract, you just have the option to cancel without an ETF as long as you provide 30 days notice.

so i should call on sept 5th, and wait another month before i switch to a new contract and get a new phone?

there we go...another month with my crap phone

Do you just want a new phone, and use your hardware upgrade? Then you can perform it immediately in-store.

If you want to cancel/port out, you'll need to tell us 30 days in advance.

Early termination fee. That is applicable when you break your contract.

Why would you do this?
In cancelling current cell you will pay more money (ECF + ACT)
You will also lose your current phone number

Its easy enough to add a Vantage to your existing account (& change pp if the new one is better deal)
Plus renewing always gets you something free (usually at minimum you will get one of your soc codes free for 12 months on 36 month term)
