Bell-related Questions

The uncle recently got a BB Pearl from Bell for "free". I believe it extended his contract by 3 years. I don't know if he was under contract before, but he had an ancient Nokia brick for many many years prior.

He's currently on the Uber 45 - Incoming 36M plan. Does 36M mean 36 months? He got it back in July I think, and when he got his Pearl yesterday the paperwork said the contract was extended. Does Bell extend an existing contract when you get a new handset, even though he didn't get a new handset when he got his new plan a few months ago?

He also has Msg Ctr Express & Call Display Bundle less 100% Promotional discount ($8 minus $8), and 6pm to 9pm Calling less 100% Promotional Discount ($7 minus $7).

Anyhow, when he got the Pearl I believe they added the Unlimited Email 15 option.

My question is, is there any penalty for cancelling the Blackberry 15 option? He just needs a phone. I don't know why he got a BB, I mean they're good phones and all, but he doesn't even need text messaging (he has the $10 unlimited texting plan but doesn't use it) so I think he can save $25 by getting rid of them both.

Would there be any penalty for switching to a lower rate plan? Maybe the Uber 35/250 minutes plan.

Thanks in advance

The contract will start again when he does a Hardware Upgrade and physically gets his new phone.

$99 Data ETF. The data must be kept on for 12 consecutive months.

No penalty for switching to the Uber 35 - * package.

Ouch that sucks. Thanks for the info. Will he keep his early evening credit and caller id/voicemail credit if he changes his plan though?

He got an additional $250 discount on the phone for taking a $15/mo data plan with a $99 Data ETF....That's a steal.

The way I see it, he deserved to get a Pearl for free after like 9 years with Bell, data plan or not.

Customer should elect not to take the option.

Sales people up-sell...customer choose to take it or not.

no, sales people upsell, but still stay within customer's needs...sleazy salespeople upsell to anything that makes them more money with no thought of the customer's needs...some of the bell sales people are giving used car salesmen a bad name.

Hey, well they learned from the best, Rogers is excellent at pillaging old ladies on their cable bills... But hey, maybe auntie Muriel wants that sports package!

Or how about Rogers raising my cable rates 4 times in one year? As soon as bell eliminates the need to have a dish pointed somewhere, I'm leaving rogers behind...Too bad my wife likes TV...

Welcome to the industry...;-)

Move into a Bell provided MDU.
