Originally posted by nevski Well, I've spent the last hour and a half searching the forums for an answer to the Time/Cost question and I haven't found anything which answers my question. There was another thread I found with a similar querie but unfortunately it also doesn't answer the question. So, does anyone know how to show the Time/Cost menu item on the C56? (and I know the manual says its on the 'menu->call log' display). Or does anyone know which forum thread id may have an answer to this question, as I can't find one and I've searched with many varying key phrases? Thanks, Nevski

Originally posted by bob110011 AT&T (and I assume Rogers - aren't they AT&T or a relation?) uses phones that have modified menu systems from the factory defaults depicted in the user manuals. Ubfortunately, whoever decides what to keep and what to discard usually tosses out something that end users like us find quite useful. Another notable feature we are denied access to is the ability to turn off GPRS and save some battery life if you are like me and don't use the Internet functions. This feature was available on my S46, but AT&T deleted it on the C56 menu system, but on page 70 of the user manual I received in the AT&T box with my phone are instructions to use a non functioning area of the menu! My US spec C56 does not have the timer feature enabled either, and FWIW neither does my S46 or my wife's M46. I've been told that the way calls work in europe, inbound calls are paid for by the originating caller, and the cell phone is only billed for outbound calls. Kinda the opposite of the way calls are billed in North America. However, never being a resident of europe, I can't say this is correct, but it really makes an interesting story / excuse for the lack of timers on this definately european phone. Maybe one of our euopean friends can verify or "poo poo" this as a clever hoax? I hope you can find a lot of good in the C56 that outweighs the little annoyances. I too was suprised for the absence of the timers (and some of the other features denied to us), but I never get anywhere near using all the minutes in my calling plan, so I quit worrying and began to enjoy the benefits of the little pocket sized Siemens phone. |
