Doesn't sound too good. Especially the low volume ringtones and vibrating alert.

Quote from the review:
"Potential buyers of Siemens SL55 are fans of this trademark. They will buy this handset to their girlfriends and wives. The other target group is young girls".

This is plain bullocks

There have been many people that have said the SL55 is a girly looking fone... I think the reason many have said this is becuase of the Ruby color some people I have met were under the impression that in only came in Ruby and was made for women...
it's just ignorance... people always seem to talk smak about Siemens then they use the fone and all of a sudden they are hooked.

i am still browsing for other reviews on other sites but i have not found any so far. one not so nice review is not enough to downplay the SL55 for me.

The SL55 is still fairly new... give it a little time and there will be alot of various reviews floating around on the net.

How is the rf of SL55 vs 6590 and 8390 or S55 with cingular? dont care much of the features.

Posted by: Synncere

I have heard the RF on the SL55 is just amazing. I have used the
6590 and the S55 on Cingular... the RF was good on the 6590 but still had problems hanging onto calls with 1 bar where on the s55 I never dropped the call at all. Out of all the fones I have used Motorola's P280 had the best RF by far even still... but the s55 IMO is a solid second. I am still amazed at how I can hold calls in the parking garage where my previous mobiles always copped out.

Thanks, Sunncere. Could you tell where have you used? California?

Posted by: Synncere

I have used my S55 on Cingular in the following cities:

Seattle
Las Vegas
San Francisco
Los Angeles

Synncere, Would the S56 or any 850Mhz do any good in California? Thanks.

Posted by: sneakerpimp

i'm still waiting for howie to put up a review of the SL55. He's usually right on the mark with his reviews.

It depends on your carrier... I haven't had an qualms with Cingular service in the U.S. but I have heard that it's shotty in alot of parts in California due to congestion.

I would see if 850 is up and running in your area and if so you can always do a web search for views on the 850 service in your specific area (there are alot of forums on the web and I have come across a few boards with 850 experiences in the US)

All in all if you bought the S56 when it came out I think it would work great in California... my S55 really clinged onto calls there it's got great RF so the S56 should do the same
