Just ordered an S56 for Cingular from LetsTalk.com for $129.99 plus a $50 rebate, for a net cost of $79.99! They say it is in stock.

I'll see on Wednesday if it delivers

It's locked to Cingular... if you wanted to use in on any other carrier you would have to have it unlocked (if you are curious as to where check the marketplace forum) or you can wait until the specialty and/or import stores start to carry unlocked s56 fones.

S56 arrived today. Fit and finish may be slightly better than S55. Software Ver. 05, SW-date 2003-04-21. P-date 2003-05-14.

All in all very nice. Keys seem to operate smoother. Case color slightly different than S55, battery cover color same as rest of back rather than contrasting as on S55.

Yes, on faceplate under 0 key, probably can be removed with nailpolish remover.

Startup and shutdown are annimated Cingular logo. One of the ringtones is Cingular specific.

I haven't tried a non-Cingular sim, but I assume it is sim-locked.
