How come everyones got the much better sanyo 5150,
they don't offer a trade in do they? Maybe I should claim something on the warranty then get a 5150 when the 5000's stock are gone. Am I really missing out?

515O only avaliable in USA...

Before I came to this "Great" Toronto.. i thought this is a Great place with Technology and Fun... but after 6 years of staying here.. I find out that it is a place for ppl who is 60+

P.S. it is SCP-5000.

a health system that is failing ... average wait for ER is 3 hrs

a Education system that schools is closing down and no more after school activities... University fees take a 5 - 10% hikes every year ...

come on... most of the hongkong ppl want to go back to HK but they can't... we have to finish our school life before going back.. that's it... you can ask some of your chinese friends...

I "think" there has no program let you do this.

Also.... I sent so many Email to Telus and Sanyo about the 515O. But both of them said I can't use it in Canada.

I only find the program to sync the phone book.

And none of my Chinese friends would prefer to go back to HK. I hang around CBCs. I don't associate with FOBs for that very reason.

My parents sent us to Canada. It's "out of my control"

Also, we came here cus (most reason) the arrivial of 1997, Britain returned its dependency of Hong Kong to China. We can't make sure that was safe to live in HK after 1997. So for now, most of the chinese went back to HK. ( not including me)

Before I came to Canada, I thought that Canada and USA has the top Tech in the world. Finally I find out that's not true.

It costs OVER $20,000 Canadian PER YEAR. Some are well over $30,000 PER YEAR.

The Candian government HEAVILY subsidizes University costs for students. Even though tuition is increasing, you guys are still getting a good deal.

Tech wise...it all depends on the area or field. For example, science and biotech, I believe that North America is ahead of the world. Cell phone wise, no. One reason is that here, we don't have cell phones "glued" to our bodies like they do in Hong Kong, Japan and other parts of Asia. If we don't have a cell phone, oh well. It's not that high on the list of importance. Most people think along the lines of...."as long as it works, I don't care what extra features may have." Because of that, why would Telus or Rogers invest money on bringing in newer technology?

As with taxes. I have to agree. Taxes are highest in Canada of all western nations but does HK provide universal health care? I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Government is like any other in the world...screwed. I'm sure the government in the SAR of HK is just as inept as ours.

do u pay 15% tax there ? i.e. a typical Software Programmer makes 40K Canadian (start off)... in the States a programmer also makes 40K but it's in US Dollars and plus less TAX to pay ... couple of my buddies rather work at the states then working here WHY...? humm maybe again HEAVY TAX ? back to the story, I agree that US Universities cost a lot more but don't forget we here in (Toronto) out governemnt take a big chunk outta our pay checks and yet they still provide such crappy services !!! In Toronto Income Tax is appox 20% or higher depending how much u make ... and therefore couple grand for a term is already a lot to us !!!

to sum it up: we paid enough taxes here and yet our health care system and education system is falling apart !!!

Not to mention our P.M of Canada make millions a year, a Typical M.P.P or M.P makes enough and they get tax examtions !!! what have they done good for us so far besides cutting budget here and there just to make sure they have a fat pension ? so WTF ?

Actually, the PM of Canada makes less then $200 000 in salary. After perks and everything, I doubt he makes even $250 000. MP's I believe start at about $85 000 plus perks. It's the pensions they get after "working" a few years that really stings. Then again, the pensions are like that for most nations.

Speaking of crappy health care, at least in Canada, you won't get turned away if you have an emergency like you would in the US because you don't have insurance.

A friend of mine and her family went to L.A. for a vacation a couple of years ago. Her father had signs of a minor heart attack and so they went to the emergency room. Since they did not buy travel insurance before leaving, they were hooped. It took them an hour to convince the hospital to admit him. They had to get some family members back in Canada to wire them some money for the stay. Of course this isn't the only example I have, it's just the most vivid.

Conclusion....

I can't find nothing special in Toronto.

My friend in HK ask me to buy some special gift to them when I go back to HK this summer.

"That is a really tough Thing to do" I am sure that all HK ppl feel the same thing....

And I told them "yeah.... the coke in canada is cheap, Nike Air Max is cheap, nothing I can buy for you, Do you want a 24-pack of Coke?" umm....
