Would post this in the audio forum, but its sorta dead in there, sorry, :/

Basically looking for a good pair of headphones/earbuds for everyday use. Mine would crap out after a while to the point of hearing out of 1 ear. I use them pretty much for a DAILY use so any recommendations? Thanks

Buy something more expensive, don't just go for skullcandies. Go for higher end sony's, shures, sennheisers, audio technicas, stuff that is 80 + normally is good, stay away from the sony MDR series though, their build quality sucks, I have the MDR-V300's

I always have the same problem, there becomes a short in the wire and 1 ear cuts out. Happens to pretty much every pair of headphones I've ever had after about 6 months of regular use, regardless of how much I paid for them.

angekfire, what type of headphones do you usually buy? What are your most expensive 'phones?

Most expensive ones I've bought were around $50, and were noise cancelling. They lasted about 6 months and broke. Now I am using the ones that came with my cellphone because it is also mky MP3 player, but the headphones are garbage, and I've had the phone little over a year and I am on my 3rd pair of headphones. It doesn't have a standard jack, and doesn't seem to be compatible with all headphones that fit the jack anyway, so I've basically had no choice in the matter.

But the average headphones I bought were between $30-$50 and none lasted more than 6 months. Why would I spend more than that if they could potentially break in the same time frame?

30-50 dollars will get you crappy sony's or skullcandies. Get something good, list some choices and I can help with what is good.

Try V-Moda Vibes. About $ 80.00 a year ago. No problems w/ good sound quality. Heavy bass which I like.

Headphones: Grado/Alessandro, Sennheiser, Audio Technica, AKG, BeyerDynamic,

Earbuds: Etymotics, Shure, UltimateEar, Westone

Anything else, garbage.

$50 is not even close to having a pair of "okay" headphones/earbuds, and in my opinion, anything less than $100 is a waste of money. Audio and build quality really (and only) kicks in over the $100 mark. My Shure and UltimateEar lasted 2 year, and still kicking strong.

The biggest problem is that people buy expensive audio players and try to get away with using *****ty free headphones. Headphone is the most essential part of listening music. *****ty headphone = *****ty music. You should spend as much, if not more on headphones than in audio players.
