Apple just released a new update for iSync that will support the S55 and S56 (as well as several other phones from SE, Motorola, and Nokia). I'm still on an S46 (not supported) waiting for ATT to release the S56 so I can't try it out yet. I'm interested to hear how it works - I know there were often issues synching with the t68... Hope things go smooth with the new version,

Now if Siemens would make firmware updates available via the Mac I'd be completely happy. Wonder if I can jury-rig a serial adapter to USB or Firewire cable and run SoftPC to do updates.

Is there special software you need to run? I've used a Keyspan PDA->USB adapter for serial connections before with my G4 and it's worked perfectly fine. However, if you need special Siemens software then forget it.

Jim, since I'm hoping to have an S55 or 56 sometime soon I'm a bit worried about the firmware update issue since I don't have easy access to a PC (even my father switched to an iMac last year). Can you have firmware updated at a store (ATTWS in my case)?

AT&T will never do updates. Probably need to send phone to Simens for update, or lvwireless.
That's why I'm looking into the cable and SoftPC combo. Since Siemens does make their firmware available available in PC form

I just installed the iSync update on my BT enabled 12" Powerbook, paired with my S55, and it worked great. I would be surprised to see Siemens support Mac OS, but maybe you could impose on a friend for the occasional update. I had Virtual PC, it really needs a machine with L3 to run reasonably well. Real PC from FWB is rumored to be redoing their approach since the MS buyout of VPC, could be interesting and we haven't seen what Panther holds. Alternatively, a cheap PC never stays cheap for anyone on this site. This is where all of us gadget-heads lurk (I'm looking for a 12 step program) and the first thing is a KVM to get rid of the extra clumsy keyboard, then the new prpcessor, then...and then...
