Is anyone using the sl55 on fido? I just bought one off gsmphonesource.com and wanted to know of any problems or anything. thanx

No problems at all! (crossing fingers)

i've been doing some research on the sl55. There's so many different facts on it. Was wondering if anyone could give me an answer on this

Does the Sl55 have a mmc slot or no? I've heard yes and no

The sl55 is so small already that I doubt anyone would be able to fit a MMC slot in it.

Besides, there's no point of doing that when the phone doesn't support music/mp3/movie playback

Perhaps you could start researching at www.my-siemens.com to get all the facts straight.

olz you must be thinking of the SX1... that fone has a slot for a MMC not the SL55

Just got mine today. So far have only been fooling around with voice calling, voice messaging etc. No problem so far. Have yet to get full signal strength however. Can't see that Fido will be a problem unless you are in an area with poor coverage.
Mind you haven't tried to set up GPRS yet!

well I guess my question was quite an obvious question, i just thought i would throw it out, i guess my researching skills aren't as good as others.

The SL55 and S55 are very similiar... I have used the s55 on Fido & Rogers in BC with no problems with either carrier. I am sure the SL55 will perform just fine on Fido.

Depends on what area... where in Alberta are you? I found GSM coverage quite good in BC (except SFU Campus)

Yeh...Only Fido works in SFU

I used to live in the 604...

How is Fido up at SFU these days? last time I was there I could barely hold onto a call there. When I was at enrolled at SFU a few years I could never hold a call on Rogers or Telus either.

if it makes you feel better, Rogers royally sucks on the U of A campus also

and olz is a geek! j/k
