Okay, I am currently updating the phone to 8.21, using default product code that is on the phone which is 0561208, does any one have the debranded code... also my girlfriend has a purple one, and our music players seem to be different, But I assume that's due to mine being a variant, and hers not?
her variant number is 00.00
mine is 33.05
What does this mean?
This t-mobile branding is crap to me, and not just the damn no java app access or five fave junk. In general... I don't like T'mobile's look.

^ You can change your product code to the NA default ones: 0556883 RM-304 5310b AMER-N NA DEFAULT RED or 0558988 RM-304 5310b AMER-N NA DEFAULT BLUE (Search here in HoFo or Google about using NSS to change product code if you don't know how), then use NSU to update it w/ the default variant firmware. However, while you could be free from the provider's "grip" on many items, it'll also lose things like T-Zone and WAP/MMS/Internet Configurations of T-Mo which you can send them back at http://www.nokiausa.com/link?cid=PLAIN_TEXT_1087991

I would assume http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/ would also achieve relatively the same affecvt as that nokia link?
Thank you HoFo mod, I was aware of those, I think I am going to use the blue one... But I was kind of hoping someone finally came across the silver.
I think I got the gist of using the NSS/NSU update trick. I forgot my serial cable at home though so, I'll have to wait till I get back home, unless the local t-mobile retailer loans me one, which he should, because I fixed his computer.
Anyways, thanks... oh and one more thing, this will bring me to 8.32?? correct?

Well I did some pretty intensive research, including stumbling upon an xls file that probably shouldn't be on the net, but hey... no american silver debranded I guess.

Seems like I made a boo-boo by updating huh?

jasexesaj,
Greetings.
I think you need to understand a few more things...
1. The Excel file listed with all the parts with the product codes of 5310 XM is not the only available documented references. If you look into many forums like GSM hosting, ipmart etc., you will find the same information.
2. There is NOTHING particularly special about the cable needed to modify your 5310 XM, it is just a USB-to-miniUSB cable (unlike the proprietary USB-to-Pop-Port ones in the old days). All you need is getting the NSS installed, changing yours with the above-mentioned codes, then using the NSU to update yours with the generic variant firmware.
3. Product codes of the Red, Blue, Silver, Purple housing are not anything different in the firmware, so as long as you get the AMER regional DEFAULT firmware, it will debrand yours with more freedom.

I unbranded and upgraded from 8.22 to v09.42 with the blue Code: 0558988 on my 5310b silver rm-304 its only been a few hours but so far it works nicely.
