The 911 fee is a complete ripoff. Read how our greedy telcos and fat cat CRTC personel are killing Canadians, thanks to their greed and incompetence. Knowing the following may save your life. Spread the word:

My plan doesn't have a e911 fee.

That's a very good plan;-) My plan makes me part of another class action suit and with a bit of luck I may be getting the fee back with compounded interests;-)

That's after hell freezes over, of course.

Nor does mine, or my sisters (Newfoundland number)

Our buddy here in NovaScotia pays two 911 fees however.

Why don't you complain to your provincial government over their fee? You think if you take a tumble on the Cabot trail that you'll be any better off?

911 Cost Recovery Fee
The 911 cost recovery fee is a monthly charge, shared by all telephone subscribers, to ensure that the province's 911 system remains up to date and continues to provide world-class service to all Nova Scotians.

The SAF is a bigger thing to complain about. I won't cry about a $0.75 fee.

I have no problem what so ever paying a 911 fee. I do have a problem with itbeing paid to the Telco's however. Because while it does have a specific purpose assigned to it, it still goes into general revenue, and it causes bickering between the Telco's and the government, like in this situation.

The 911 fee should go straight to the government. Just like the extra fee in NovaScotia, and then they can worry about all expenses related to the service.

Its a travesty. The carriers have been charging these fees, and duping Canadians into believing that it's to improve 911 service. When in reality, the fees have been padding their profits.

This is a bigger scandal than carriers claiming SAF is a government fee.

"We have this happen all the time. We just haven't had anybody [else] die yet."

Sadly.. Its not the first time I've heard that statement before..

Does it really take a death to realize "damn we ****** up" ?

Please keep any general discussion relating to the Canadian Telco's in the Canadian Wireless Industry Discussion forum, and that only discussions specific to Bell, be posted in the this forum.
