I got an xv6700 today for Christmas and the phone seems pretty awesome, everything works except for one major part: sound. I researched some forums and most said that if you have no sound its usually due to the headphone jack not recognizeing that there is nothing connected. Problem is that my headphone jack is jammed, completely, came jammed, can't even fit a headphone jack in there. Without replacing the phone, is there a way I can disable the headphone jack in the registry or by using some other type of program? the 6700 is pretty old and i would guess that there would be some type of reg hack out there to accomplish this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Merry Christmas

I am not a phone expert; however, I do know a bit about sound connectors and audio.
It sounds like whatever is jammed in the jack is causing your problem. Most earphone type jacks are designed to act as a switch to break the connection to the main speaker(s) when the ear plug in put in the jack. It does this by separating two metal parts in the jack itself thereby breaking the connection.
The only fix without taking the case apart is to remove whatever is stuck in the hole. You might try a pin (remove battery) to pry it out or a very fine screw. Twist the screw into the mass and pull back. One other thing to try is some type of vacuum. If you have or know someone do has a solder sucker (radio shack) this might do the trick.
Good Luck, Let me know how you made out.
