GD87 and infra red compatibility problems

I have just bought the GD87 and love it to bits but it is no good to me without infra-red compatibility with my iPAQ. I use third part software via infra red to manage the phone book and SMS. I have spent a couple of days trying loads of applications on the iPAQ but can't get any of them to work. I will have to return the phone today unless I can find a compatible software product. Can any one help?
