I don't know if this is in the right place, but anyways...

This morning, i look down at my Touch and i notice something that has never been there before on NorthernTel, EVDO is active. I ask my co-worker to check his, it was still at 1X, but as he was watching his Touch, it also switched to EVDO. We are so far the only two confirmed EVDO connected phones of all the people that i know. my other co-workers that have "dumb" phones such as the Katana have not been able to connect to EVDO as of yet, but the two of us with Touchs have connected and let me tell you, after all these years at 1X, EVDO is nice to finally have here in Timmins. it's still a little touchey i guess, as it has gone down quite alot all morning, but it seems to be getting better...

I have done alot of travelling, and in all the phones that i had, the Touch as been my favorite, especially when i head to a larger center that has EVDO, i'm able to browse the net, check my e-mails, watch videos on Youtube as well as on Orb (great service by the way, check it out at http:\\www.orb.com, allows you to share your music, movies, pictures, documents... on pretty much anything, your Wii, a PS3, any other computer, a phone...) with greater speeds and higher quality. I have always dreadded comming back from trips from out of town for the simple fact of loosing my faster speeds that i love using my phone with.

Good news! EVDO manages data/voice calls better (calls no longer go to voicemail when using data). Which--besides the obvious speed improvements--is one of it's best attributes.

The Timmins EVDO network is not up officially so you may notice the icon going up and down and service acting weird if you force it in EVDO. Once it's stable and ready they'll announce it officially.
