Which phone will do this?

I love to listen to audio books. My MP3 player (which is an extremely basic 1GB AAA-powered cheapo) works like this-
On my way into work, I start listening to my book. When I get to work, I hold down the power button until it goes off. When I get back in my car to return home, I just power it back up and it resumes where it left off.
For the longest time I was trying to use my Samsung Upstage II. It has a basic but serviceable music player, but it will not resume a track where it was left off. It will just restart the music player anew each and every time. I was making do by manually splitting my large MP3 files into chunks that roughly matched my commute times, but this is a lousy solution.
Which phone, especially one from Verizon, will do what I seek? A secondary concern would also be WiFi connectivity with a decent browser, and a modest to good quality camera (2MP or better with good optics).
This seems like a almost unattainable goal... does anyone on this board have any advice?
TIA!

if you have WM phone (touch, touch pro, mogul), try TCPMP or GSPlayer
