3G network detected, not Rogers

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Treatz

I posted this up in the Canadian section but figured based on input that this network is either telus or bell so I reposted in the carrier sections to

I did a network scan last night for no reason other then boredom and:

Telus or bell?

It's a 3G network and it's 1900/850 for the BOld to detect it

oddly enough this morning it's gone

so who's 302-640

I doubt it would be a 2100mhz carrier

My understanding is global live will be on the 1700/2100 pairings of new spectrum auctioned off

Posted by: Zeekme

Globelive is 1700... If Telus is doing any testing, it would be out west first. I say this is Bell!

Posted by: Paolo

I say Bell Mobility too.

Treatz, any luck registering to the newly discovered MCC/MNC?

In the other thread, someone's picking up yet another carrier code. Looks like it could be more than one carrier testing.

Bell mobility installed 3G antennas on the top of my building near 427/derry rd. last tuesday. People with 3G enabled phones should be able to detect this site very soon.

Bell already has 3G deployed .

Welcome to GSM Bell brethren.

I haven't caught 302-221 (Telus's 3G network) but I regularly scan for 3G on my iPhone and Bell shows up quite often.

Very excited to be able to dump Robbers at some point if need be.

Hi,

I have the HTC Touch PRO,

The box my phone came in says 3G phone! ....

Does this mean any good news for me that bell is putting up new antennas ?

How much will I have to spend on a 3G phone?

Your HTC phone is an EVDO 3G phone.

Currently, Bell is installing antannas for HSPA 3G, which is a totally different beast. Your HTC phone won't be compatible, but will continue to work as long as the EVDO 3G network (or 1X) is up and running.

Bell Mobility came by my building yesterday and began pulling OUT equipment. Judging from the waveguides they cut and left hanging I'd gather it was mostly 800Mhz analog... but there were some smaller ones in there that may have been digital service.

The landlord said they were "moving out" but it's entirely possible another truck-roll will come along to bring new gear in. They're bringing a crane by today to remove the massive conduit they had running up the side of the building to carry the waveguides to the antennae. Rather than a box on the roof, they had a first-floor apartment leased for all the equipment.
