Why does ATT/Siemens release versions of the c55 and s55 that ONLY work in North America?? Especially given the fact that the s55/6 is a high end phone?? It's really annoying!

The 56 versions are made for North American specification (850 enabled) not for world use. The majority of users who purchase a 56 version won't be using the fone overseas anyways. If you really want a world fone purchase the 55 model (IE Siemens S55)

there are rumours of the phone being incomptable with ATT because of ericsson towers....doesn't make sense to me...but the ATT forum has a post regarding this.

It's the s55 that has problems in some AT&T areas in the US and some Fido areas in Canada. Most of these issues have been corrected as the s55 has been performing in areas where previously it wouldn't. The s56 will be fine on AT&T. They wouldn't release it otherwise.
