GU87 and T-Mobile

Hi I just brought an unlocked AT&T GU87 and I'm using T-Mobile with the phone. I'm a newbie at this and have a few questions.

1. Can I use T-Zone? (I have the service) I went to T-mobile site and enter their server settings but when I try to connect it says Reception Failed. Does anyone have a GU87 phone that can connect to T-Zone? If so could you please give me the settings? Thank you.

2. How to I setup my T-mobile voice mail? In the manual they say that under the voice-mail menu I can edit the voice-mail number but it seems like AT&T has disable the feature. If this is the case do I need to flash the phone with another firmware? Or is there any other way to bypass that?

Thanks for all the help.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your questions, but I was considering doing the same thing (sign up with AT&T to get the GU-87 and use it with my T-Mobile account). I was wondering if you find the T-mobile service to be much better than the AT7T GSM service. Thanks

Tom

server settings for tmo are here: http://howardforums.com/showthread....t=gd87+settings near the bottom of the page.
i had the same problem, kept getting the "reception failed" message. you need a data cable and CB2000, and then follow the instructions for it at http://sky.prohosting.com/~pteal/ar...mware/a39.shtml and re-enter in the tmo wap/gprs settings. it should work fine. also, for the voicemail just call up cust. care and they can tell you how to get that working.

Hmm.. hard to say about T-mobile GSM service. I got it several months ago, and it was terrible. Any kind of enclosed building seemed to block my signal. Outside... it was great. I ended up taking back the phones and canceling during the first 14 days.

A few months later, i signed on with AT&T GSM, and i have had better luck, but still not happy with signal. I tend to lose it alot more than I did with my old Cingular phone. I know GSM is still expanding, so hopefully that is why.

I, too, just bought an unlocked GU87 and am using it with a T-Mobile sim. I'm getting the same error when trying to access the web. I'll try jerksmile's suggestion to fix this problem.

Also, my phone has a roaming "triangle" icon on all the time. Am I being charged roaming fees? It says "Voicestream T-Motile" on the phone. I can manually search for ATT network but didnt' choose it.

Cerberus, are you getting the roaming icon as well?

i have the roaming triangle on my phone too, as well as the "voicestream" operator logo. no worries though, you aren't paying any roaming charges. that triangle is there just due to the A39 firmware being programmed for ATT (hence the ATT splash screen on startup) and since we are using tmo it puts up the roaming symbol. also, my rep told me that tmo is over the next few months going through their system and taking out all of the "voicestream" programing, so our phones should begin to say "tmobile" instead of "voicestream" in the near future. cheers.

Just a wild guess...Your GU is "sim" unlocked, but how about your "network"??? If it's not unlocked, you can't use T-Mobile's T-Zones...

I have no problems using the gu87 with T-mobile. You guys can search for the answer... the person who posted the T-zone settings was lost rebel. This was a few months ago but its still here!

How can I unlock "network"? I found out my firmware is A22. Guess the guy who unlocked it didn't upgrade back to A38. What can I do? Still don't have t-zones.

Thanks,

Forgot to add that I have what the dealer said was a 32bit sim card. I only have the Panasonic logo splash screen--not ATT anywhere. Firmware is A22 tho. Where can I find the firmwares A22 and A38 so I can upgrade? I found some softwares such as crack2b and Winmodo and so on but not the firmwares.

Thanks,

This is my experience from flashing my friends GU87 (AT&T phone)...When the firmware is A22, you have the OEM welcome screen, but the keypad response is a little sluggish, but when I upgraded it back to A39, it changed back to the AT&T welcome screen, but the keypad response was better. It was my first time sim unlocking a GU, but I still wish I could figure out how to unlock the network part located in the service menu. If anyone has any idea to unlocking the network part of a GU, please let us know...Mahalos in advance!

would someone please help regarding the network unlock? if i can't use the wap on t-zone then the phone doesn't do me any good. thanks in advance.

are you talking about the "network" unlock code it asks for when you go to the "746 746 menu menu" menu? that should be the same 16 digit code you put in where it asked for the ATT unlock
