USA roaming Blackberry data discrepancy

Hi,

I was just in the US for a week, and used Blackberry data while I was there only for e-mail.

On the Bell website, at this page

it shows I should be charged $6/MB. On the bill I just received, it is showing up as $8/MB.

I called in to billing who say that in their system it is $8/MB. Originally when I added the data plan two weeks ago I was told it would be $6/MB, and I checked again on the website before I left that it was still $6/MB.

I guess the rate has changed recently, or both the rep I spoke to two weeks ago and the web site were wrong. I was told it is unlikely that a re-rate request will be authorized.

I don't understand why it is unlikely given the information I was provided with via two different communication means.

Perhaps the website should be updated to include cost increases and/or decreases (unlikely!).

Has anyone else noticed an increase in USA data roaming charges on this month's bill?

I wonder if this is new since I have always been charged $30 a meg while roaming in the states unless I put on a data plan.

I will call Bell about this next time I go to teh states.

The website is wrong about the data roaming price (much like it's wrong about many other features/price plans.)

The website is maintained by Bell Canada, which can cause a problem when speaking about Mobility services.

Thankfully, there's this disclaimer on the website.

Therefore, I think the roaming rate is $30/meg w/out a roaming plan, correct me if i'm wrong?

I think with mobile browser it is 30/MB, is that what you are talking about? I don't have any special roaming plan for my BB but it gets charged differently than mobile browser.

Mobile Browser is $30.72/mb.

Smartphone/PDA roaming is dependent on the feature on your account.

Thankfully? If their objective is to aim for the worst record when it comes to user satisfaction and losing as many customers as possible, they can be THANKFUL indeed. The Jan. 2009 issue of Consumers Reports surveyed 18,000 Canadian cell phone users and Bell finished dead last.

Bell has thousands of people busy digging their own grave. They are called managers who come up with disclaimers like you quoted above.
