Thinner Than a Penny!

I was looking at a phone for sale (IPAQ 910) on Ebay, and couldn't believe this picture with its misspelled headline: "thineer than a penny".

The full Ebay ad is at:

WTF????

Well, that would indeed be a stunning headline, if a phone was actually thinner than a penny! As much as they keep learning to miniaturize phones, I doubt they will ever be thinner than pennies.

But I have to wonder what was on this guy's (or girl's) mind in posting that silly picture with that claim in his Ebay ad? Does he think it would really be a sales pitch, that would help sell the phone? Or did he just stick that in there as a joke?

I guess one could advertise a camcorder as "MUCH THINNER THAN A PIECE OF PAPER", and have a photo showing the thickness of the camcorder compared to the 11 inch length of a piece of paper. Would that help sell the camcorder?

Would you consider buying a phone on Ebay (not discussing the pros and cons of that particular phone model) where the seller had a pic like that in his ad? Perhaps, if it was clear that he was just joking, by throwing that in there. But that isn't clear to me. If the seller thought that the potential Ebay buyers would be dummies, and would really fall for a line like that, then who knows what other tricks he might have up his sleeve, trying to "fool the dummies"? I'd be wary of bidding for that phone, with a pic like that (including its headline) in it. Would you?

Hey I love people like that. I have won SEVERAL eBay auctions where the people selling it either misspelled some part of the ad (decreasing the searches it will turn up in) On in the one case I was looking for a new battery for my KRZR K1 and did a search for BC 50 and won an auction for a BC50 with a free L2 attached for less than $10.
