Unlimited texting is only possible on the Select plan which is unlimited texting to anybody for all the lines. (There is unlimited IN text which is unlimited to just VZW numbers which is probably what you're talking about) Since you are grandfathered into an older plan, you cannot change your plan unless you change over to one of the newer plans. It's the way it is with all carriers. |

If you really want a plan with completely unlimited messaging you would go for a select plan, and given your minutes requirements it sounds like the 1400 minute family share select plan would be the way to go. It would run you $129.98/month total, plus taxes, so sounds like it would actually cost a bit cheaper than what you a you are paying now, and you'd actually get completely unlimited messaging. Not only that, but with the new Friends & Family, given this plan, you'd actually get to chose 10 phone numbers that anyone on your plan can call or get calls from completely for free. Not really sure where VZW would be making more money here, considering you'd actually be saving some while actually getting more in return. The only potential downside of having to switch to a NW plan is the data pricing which would be $1.99/MB (still not quite sure how you ended up with data charges on the plan you are on if you aren't on a NW plan). So, if you use data, there might be something there that might run you extra (perhaps getting V CAST VPak for $15/month for lines that need it, or simply going with a connect plan, either of which would cover the data usage). |

Granted I didn't try it so they may make it as dioficult as possible but if I had I could have saved over $700 -- still $400 after the cancellation hit.

It's bad enough you pay full price for the second phone -- no "new every two" upgrade discount.

The difference in pricing of the plans was that the online price was $30 less a month for two lines of the premium family (or whatever it was called back then) with unlimited texting. So for the difference I could have added the vcast package to both lines and still be at the two line price I got in the store. In hindsight obviously the technician was clueless and my not insisting on the price change will have cost me nearly $700 in a couple months when the contract finishes. I can sort of see them not adjusting the monthly fees after a year, after all I did sign a contract, but making the change within the first month would have been good PR. They wouldn't miss the money and they would have had a client for life. Now that is in jeopardy once this contract runs out. |
