Nokia E71-2 on ATT 3G

Did a little searching on the boards . . .

I recently bought a Nokia E71-2 and love it! BUT after swapping out my SIM card, I don't seem to get 3G. I know my area (southern Indiana) gets good 3G reception. So what's the deal? Do I need to sign up for something thru ATT? BTW I don't have a data plan (yet...) if that makes a difference . . .

These are the areas of Indiana with 3G:
Indiana
Elkhart, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Gary, Indianapolis, Lafayette, South Bend

Most people use 3G for the higher data transfer speed. You to have the correct data settings in the phone for the 3G icons to appear on the screen.

3g works for phone calls also -supposedly clearer! ATT 3g should work seamlesly on the e71-2 and you should see signal when you are in area with 3g coverage

I have an e71-2 in indiana, I've only used it in Fort Wayne and Auburn so far, it works great, no issues. Keep in mind that these areas are 1900mhz 3g only. Indy, Evansville, lafayette, and also the NW corner of indiana are 850mhz 3g. There might be some 1900 around the NW corner as well since it was initially 1900. AT&T's 850mhz area ends some where in that area as the majority of northern indiana is 1900 only (until the Centennial acquisition is complete ).

What is your location?

Let's please make sure we understand this. Do we gather correctly that your E71-2 appeared to get 3G and 3.5G before you switched SIM?

Why did you switch SIM?
