i am a new buyer, and it seems tedious to send a text message compared to other phones.....logging on to vision and then i am not even sure if my associates with nextel service can recieve my messages
if i am missing something please let me know

You're not missing anything; do some searches on "short mail" in the Sprint area and you should find out all you need to know.
As far as Nextel goes, you should be fine. I haven't had any problems sending or receiving Short Mail (SMS to everybody else) with other carriers.
