Hey guys, I am wondering if anyone has ventured to take apart their 6200 for any reason yet. I am asking because I just can't stand the black/gold anymore and don't see aftermarket plates coming anytime soon due to the design of this phone being so different from other Nokias. I bought a "dummy" 6200 of eBay and stripped out all the "gold" parts. My plan is to paint them some color that will go with the black that makes up the rest of the phone. Once I do this though I am not too sure how to switch these pieces into my 6200 without breaking it. I don't see any aparent screws to begin the process of opening it up. I want to be careful with it obviously and am not willing to risk breaking it just to get new colors on it. Any info or experience appreciated. Thanks guys!

There are no screws to remove. Simply remove the back and take out battery. Now looking at bottom of phone (where charger and headset plug in), gently pry it apart and rotate the front part (thats the part around key pad) upward. The top portion of phone (where ear piece is) will separate and the front cover comes off. It's that simple. If this is confusing, I'm sorry cause I'm having a "senior moment":-)

Check out the colors coming out for the 6220. I don't know if you like them any better (silver, light green, rose), but they look like they'll fit the 6200 fine (from the images the body is the same as 6200, the camera lens is in the permant part of the phone not on the detachable cover).

However, they don't appear to be available yet:

The 6220 seems to be abit longer than the 6200. If that's the case, then only the battery cover and keypad will probably work. I arrived at this conclusion based on Nokia's website and the measurements they give each phone. Hope I'm wrong.

Hmm... I hadn't looked looked at the exact specs. They're really close, the width and the depth seem to be same, but the length is quoted as slightly different (roughly 106mm vs 107mm). I have seen the 6200 listed as 4.2 inches in height instead of 4.17, hopefully it is just a difference in how the measurements were reported, guess I'll have to wait and see.
