Digital Bluespoon Beta Testers FAQ and response thread
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

It has been decided to open another thread at the request of several beta testers along with Jan and Lars from Nextlink as an open communication link between the beta testers and Nextlink.
It would be appreciated if only Digital Bluespoon beta testers could post here their questions, remarks and reviews regarding their experiences.
If other people have questions, we would welcome them in another thread.
Jan, Lars and other technicians at Nextlink will try to answer your questions on this thread on a daily basis. Don't forget the time difference, Denmark is 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time which would result of them answering your questions on the following day.
For more personal questions, feel free to use the following email address betatester@nextlink.to (don't forget to sign any email sent to this address with your HoFo nickname AND real name in order for Nextlink to know who you are).

I am not a HoFo DBS betatester but I am a HoFo member and a Digital Bluespoon individual beta tester so I hope I can use this forum with all the HoFo beta testers - ok?
I am not experiencing the significant noise cancellation with my DBS that I hear from others here. The example that Mark recorded with the boat motor for example.
Should the DBS block background noise like music or other folks talking LOUDLY? I haven't tried mechanical sounds like a motor or something but, in groups of folks or at a concert the background noise is not blocked/filtered at all. Am I expecting too much? Even with the two michrophones, how does it distinguish background conversation from my voice?
Mine also seems to take a while to connect when voice dialing - press a button on DBS and have to wait 5-6 seconds before beep to talk - maybe a little longer. Haven't gone back to ABS to check - maybe it always took this long and I am again expecting too much.
Bottom line - I still love the DBS and prefer it over all other bluespoon headsets that I have tried. And the Next Linc folks are the best to deal with - all the way back to the initial intro of the analog bluespoon when Lars himself was calling first time users to answer questions and resolve problems. Great company, great product (in fact to me, a non-engineer, this is an absolutely amazing product considering all that it does, battery life, size - just shows you what can be done today - a great time to be alive!)
Thanks for the space - I hope my feedback helps.

Hi RandyTodd
I'm sure that other HoFo Beta Testers are all asking the same question... how (and where) did you get your Digital BS?
You are now the 2nd person, outside of the group, to appear on the forum as an owner of a D-BS and this is news to all of us.
I would hope that Jan or Lars will bring all of us up to date as to how many other people are currently Beta Testing the D-BS for Nextlink.

Here is the response I got from Jan today in regards to a battery/charging question I asked:

Emne: ? about charging
Hi again,
I understand that the battery in the D-BS is a LIP battery and I'd like to know if I start re-charging it before it is in a low condition will that present any problems? Problems like... a shorter battery life or shorter overall use time (short cycle memory issues).
Thanks (3vw) Don R

Hi again
Nope, this sort of battery have no memory-effect/loss at all. You can recharge whenever You like
It can/will like any other battery get worn through the years, but it will last a very long time,..basically
longer than phones, even with heavy usage.
Best regards
Jan

3vw,
Sure, I am a longtime bluespoon user from the beginning. Lar's graciously allowed me to be a beta tester, in fact before this group was formed. I have bought a few of the analog bluespoons and I guess he appreciated my business - my thanks the Lars and his great folks for the honor. (I did not get mine any sooner than all of you).
It is great reading your beta groups comments and feedback. Lots of opinions and different takes on ths device - several things I have missed. Lots of fun and very informative on HoFo.

In that case I got a question for Lars, why make me collect money from 22 other people and go through all the hassel of sending money to you with addresses and all the other crap if you are going to let individuals simply get the units direct? No offense Randy, but I could have lived without all the superfulous stuff if you just sent your money in without going through the hassel. So could everyone else.
I also find it strange that you would now only come out and say you had it all along when others have waited patiently for months?

On my XP desktop -- running the CD-ROM that came with the Digital: Clicking on Online Support stalls and crashes the program.

I have been watching all the threads here on the bluespoon and saw no reason to add anything in the past - just waited for my DBS like everyone else. I didn't ask for any special handling and did not receive any. As I said earlier, I didn't get mine any sooner than anyone here - in fact later than most.
When I asked Lars to beta test new products (long ago, in fact I had contacted him about their jawbone technology way long ago) I didn't think of doing a group like you Bengalboy. At that time you had not contacted Lars. When I saw what you were doing I thought it was a better idea - having a large group beta test and use this forum for feedback. I don't know for sure but, I don't think Lars took anymore beta testers after you started this beta test group. You got yours sooner and probably got a better deal - but you all deserve it for bringing this large group of beta testers.
Anyway, we all have the same objective. Get the technology and help make it better. I hope to offer helpful feedback through this forum and have certainly learned a lot from everyone here.

Well, I do have a personal problem with someone wasting my time....and if all you had to do was send your money I don't know why Lars required me to collect everyone else's money and go through all of this. In my opinion, I doubt he would have wanted you to say a thing if this was the case as it would create some ill will on my part.
I don't appreciate it when people don't share information when others share it freely.
