Already spied in testing on the Nurburgring wearing heavy camouflage, a new Acura vehicle is in the works, and it's a crossover. The 'concept' version of the vehicle is now being teased ahead of its expected debut at the New York Auto Show in just a few weeks.

The vehicle looks to be a bit like an Acura take on the BMW X6 sports activity vehicle concept, with a very similar roofline and an apparent four-door configuration. The latest round of teasers, leaked through the AcuraZine forums, includes five angles of the new vehicle. Edmunds is now reporting that the upcoming vehicle will be called the MSX and will arrive in production trim next year as a 2011 model.

Firstly, this is a bad recipe:

Front end of current Acura's = ugly
General design of BMW X6 = ugly
therefore, front end of Acura + BMW X6 = ugly˛

The other thing I'm confused about is how there is a market for this. I mean, the MDX is already a crossover with performance in mind, and pretty good at that role. The RDX is smaller and also does pretty well in its role. Is this really necessary?

Sorry but I disagree.

The current Acura SUV front ends look good IMHO (MDX / RDX). The MDX almost looks good enough for a single guy to drive one without wearing a disguise out of shame for driving a "soccer mom" "grocery getter".

And the BMW X6 is also pretty good in the looks department. It's just in the actual execution that they fell short. That is what happens when you let artsy designers have too much say in the actual final configuration over engineers.

i agree the front end of the current TSX is tough!@! but i saw the spy pics from some other site and it looks like bigger than the MDX. Do we really need a crossover?
