Just wondering me and my girlfriend had a debate last night, i have the iphone and wouldnt even think of gettign a blackberry, the only thing it has on the iphone is bbm

what does everyone think

I agree. I've switched back n forth between both.

I like the look and feel of the Bold, and it's keyboard it like butter...excellent for texting and emailing. But when it comes to browsing, gaming and general toying around...the iPhone trumps!

If emailing and business is your priority, then go for the Bold. If, like me, you use your phone for browsing, slight emailing and texting, a bit of gaming, hacking, modding and calling...the iPhone's the device for you.

Waiting on the App World for Blackberry's to take off now. Lets see what they come out with.

iPhone vs Blackberry is practically the new "Mac vs. PC" debate. you're going to find people diametrically and radically on each side.

Having used most (Blackberry, Pam, WinMo, iPhone), I like my iPhone the best.

Blackberry FTW!!!

I hate to be the cop out here, but the answer is, "it depends."
As my brother so eloquently put it "I get far more use out of my iPhone than I have any other smart phone, but it doesn't do some of the things I miss on my other ones."

So I always ask people what they want a smart phone for before making a recommendation.
So my answer is that for most people the iPhone, unless you specifically need one of the things the BB has that iPhone does not.

Also iPhone OS 3.0 will help close that feature gap even further.

iPhone + jailbreak > BB Bold

from personal experience

I like the touchscreen concept of the iPhone in regards to the scrolling, pinching etc..,but I find typing a bit cumbersome and less accurate than the BB Bold and Storm. For emails and SMS I would rather have the BB because IMO composing emails or SMS is faster and more accurate for me than the iPhone's virtual QWERTY. Even though Storm has a virtual QWERTY it was easier to use and more accurate for me than the iPhone.

For me I prefer the BB and QWERTY .

Not quite... the iPhone doesn't multitask. It's a nice phone, I have a 3G one here, but it not multitasking other than being able to run music and browse at the same time is far beyond annoying. Basically use the thing now as an iPod Touch.

Thus, I always end up back to using BlackBerry. Right now the one next to me is being my tethered modem via bluetooth, it's running a browser while I read engadget's RSS feed on there, yahoo messenger, aim, and pandora is pumping out some music. I know my iPhone 3G won't do this.

But when it comes down to it, it's personal preference. I know many people who wouldn't sit here running a bunch of programs at once. They just go online, which the iPhone browser is superior IMO, and perhaps watch some tv shows or something. Each device got their positive and negative aspects and for me personally the iPhone just doesn't cut it.

It really does depend.

Nothing is better than the iPhone when it comes to browsing the web and using many different applications.

However, if getting e-mails (personal and business) and needing something more tangible when texting/sending e-mail is necessary for you, then a Blackberry is better.

For me, getting/sending e-mails on my phone isn't really that big of a deal, but I am a big texter, and I really don't like texting on the iPhone. So the Blackberry would work better for me. Plus, on the Bold, the browser is only slightly worse than the iPhone.

Wow, the iPhone gets votes just out of pure popularity. There's no possible way to decide which one is better without using both. To form an opinion without using either is also impossible.

I'd go BB anyday. Reception has always been better and it seems things are created for more of a power user and not some general public, works for ages 10-100. The apps for the iPhone are nice just because there are so many. The iPhone is very far down the list unless you jailbreak it too. I'm not a touchscreen guy either, biggest killer of the iPhone for me is something as simple as there's no physical keys.

I think there are very few reasons to need to jailbreak the iPhone.

Iphone, because it has real email clients, and exchange support.

Posted by: RF9

Good answer, I agree with that. Both have completely different ways of supporting mail and of course exchange which can only be used through BES on Blackberry. It very much depends on the individual need and available support for exchange activesync or BES.

The iPhone has, in my opinion, the best and unmatched ability to render HTML email (I haven not tried Android yet.) Unfortunately you can't choose to selectively NOT get HTML or images (like WM can.) One of the selling points of the iPhone, for me was when I tried out email and saw how well it handled HTML emails.

I'm personally not a fan of the way BB push works, the way it forwards a copy of the mail to your phone (email client doesn't retrieve the actual email.) And the way mails are time stamped with the time the phone received the email, not the time when it was sent. A huge annoyance. Especially when BES or BIS is down, you have no way of knowing it's down, and when you get the emails after it comes back up, you have no idea when they were sent.
