Hello all

I have iphone3g with at&t now. I am ready to go get E71 unlock from amazon. I would like to know what I need to make the E71 work on my account code wise? Does it breach the contract I have with At&t on iphone line? Thank you.

If you dont plan on using iphone anymore, just switch the sim form the iphone to the e71. Call att and tell them to change your plan from iphone to pda unlimited. same cost. tell them to make sure they turn on MMS messaging

if you want to switch between two phones, just switch the sim from one to the other and you will be good to go. when using he e71 under the iphone plan, you might have trouble getting mms messages and receive a txt message when you get a voicemail.
When iphone 3.0 comes out I assume the mms restrictions will be lifted from the iphone and it will be a little smoother transition from iphone to other phones

I heard you can get by with medianet $15 a month plan on unlimited data. Will that breach my iphone $30/ month plan? I don't know if I have a contact on the data plan itself.

AT&T doesn't do Contracted features. The only thing that breaches your contract with AT&T is canceling that line of service basically. Using unlocked devices or changing your rate plan and/or features does not.

Once you switch from the Iphone you can have the Iphone data removed from your line.

They however will not let you change from it until the system is updated with another phone's IMEI (Til the system sees you aren't using the Iphone anymore), you must either:
1) Put your SIM in an AT&T branded dumbphone, so the OLAM (online account) registers that phone's IMEI and gives you the choice online to switch to $15 data
OR
2) Get the IMEI of an AT&T branded dumbphone (fairly easy on HowardForums here) and call into CS - give them that IMEI - and say you want on the $15 Data Unlimited plan because you wont be using the Iphone anymore.

Then once its on your account...put your SIM in the unlocked E71. The reason you need the dumbphone is AT&T will not recognize the IMEI of the unbranded E71 so your account in the system will never change from the Iphone by itself.

If it's the unlocked E71 get the Data Unlimited for $15 not the PDA Personal for $30. That's the bonus to the unlocked version, they can't really require you to be on the PDA Personal. If you had the E71x, it would be a different story.
