I need help with modding my Nokia 6265i

I've seen the other threads about modding that phone and tried following instructions. I'm at work so I can't provide exact details until I get him but here's the gist of it.

I'm referring to this thread and the ones listed in it: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=962591

I've got a USB cable that I use use to connect my phone to my PC. I have no clue where the cable was manufactured (ie China/Japan/Taiwan/etc) since it doesn't say anywhere on the cable. I also don't know what type of cable it is but I have an image to go off: http://www.aftermarketcellular.com/...s/pcs/CA-53.gif

I've got Diego installed on my PC and can manage to connect it to my phone. However, the problem I have is that I can't get Diego to read from my phone. If I click on Read All, it doesn't do anything. Something pops up but it lasts like a milisecond so I don't even have time to read what it is >_>

Another question I've got is that I have Nokia PC Suite. It can also detect my phone as well but it doesn't allow you to really change anything. I've tried using it to install games to my phone but that didn't realy work out. If I drag games to the phone, they go into Albums instead of games. I can't install games either since the installer doesn't start up for the Jar/Jad files. Is there an easier way to do this?

Lastly, another problem I've got is that MobiMB manages to get the games on my phone easily however, the games will not work. I get some error message if I try to run the game saying the application is invalid. Does it have something to do with trying to run the games off the SD Card (that's where I'm trying to put the games instead of on the phones memory)

This is so frustrating since I have no idea what exactly I'm doing wrong -_-

It's been a long time since I modded my 6265i... The best tip I can give you at least is to go out, buy a new hard drive, do a VIRGIN install of Windows XP (I wish I was kidding), and THEN install diego (no other Nokia software)...
Also, if you search around here, someone suggests a very particular version of Diego - you might want to try that as well.
Remember that the software is built to be an internal version so it's VERY finicky. If at first you don't succeed, reformat and try again. It will go eventually. Sorry, but I can't help you with the games part; I never did any of that on my 6265i...

Basically U need either Win2K Service Pack 4 or WinXP SP2 to use Nokia software.
It will not work unless you have the correct service packs installed.
To use diego - be sure you have the correct USB driver or cable driver.
Remove any other USB or Phone drivers installed and phone software.
Then install diego and /or PC Suite and try connect.

To mod your fone as you describe - you must use diego to change some settings to allow Java Apps to run any type of file or location. Use either MobiMb or Oxycube to then copy the java apps or games directly into the proper folder. Most Nokia use .jar files. Howard forums has instructions on which settings to change and the values to put in. Same for ringtones or using mp3 for tones. Some Nokia will use wma files for ringtones. Mp3 ringtones can be converted to wma using Windows Media Encoder. Camera sounds may also be turned off or on. Nokia 6265i phones work best if you mainly use the SD card for music, songs, movies or pix storage. The phone may show it has memory and will behave unpredicably because to OS does not have enough free mem to run it. The phone may also "lose" settings or behave oddly if the battery is low even if it says it has charge on the indicator. Lack of memory will also cause the camera to "freeze" or hang. Solution - shut off fone, restart with no open menus or apps, move files off fone, shut fone off and restart, then it will work again. Solution to "invalid app" on trying different games - open the game, message appears, go back, re-open game and it will work the second time. If you get "invalid app" the second time that version of the game will not work on that fone. Try a different version of the same game.

Important note on using Diego ! Make sure your fone battery is full charged before starting. Make a backup of the original fone settings (using diego) before changing any settings. Backup or copy your original fone files (using Oxycube or MobiMB) before making any changes. The object is to be able to restore the fone if you make mistakes. Secondly when making changes the fone must first be read and then the changes made (usually click the right setting and a drop box will appear) and then the new settings written back to the fone. Do not shut off or unplug the fone when it is writing settings. Also - it may take as long as 5-10 minutes and the fone may appear to be dead (will go black screen and then restart) while doing so - have patience.

Thanks for the great explanation! I tried most of what you said and I managed to get it to read my phone. I've also changed around a few settings like for the camera shutter (I have a backup incase something goes awry). My next questions is how do I get rid of the annoying beep when you use the phone to record a video. What do I need to tweak in order to turn it off?

To turn off video beep - open the camera, go to options, settings and turn camera sounds off. Because video uses the camera - if you turn off cam sounds it also stops video sounds.
