So here is my story.
My grandma is going to get me a cell phone and pay for my service for when I go to college. She has a basic individual plan. If I wanted to have an individual select plan, could she just sign up for that plan and pay the two plans seperatly? Or would she have to upgrade to a family select plan?
So, assuming that she could just get the two plans individually, can I buy a plan from an online store like amazon, and save alot of money on getting a more expensive phone, specifially the LG Dare, and get the plan that she can pay for?
Thank you to whoever can help me, because I've been trying to figure this out and can't find the specific information that I need. Thanks.

I am not sure if VZW will let people have more than one account, until they reach the 5 max phones on a family plan.
But I would think it would be much cheaper to add you to her plan, causing her to go to a family plan and bump it up to the select plan if you do truly need unlimited texting. If not, I think VZW texting plan goes from $5 to $20, and the unlimited is like $30 extra a month ( i am going off memory now) If grandma is not a texter, that may be the best route to go. You would be added to her plan for $9.99, share minutes and whatever price for texting.

Okay I went and looked at VZW website. This is with the minimal amount of minutes you can get, because I don't know how many minutes you or grandma needs.
1 phone on the basic plan, no texting = $39.99 a month
1 phone on the select plan, unlimited texting = $59.99 a month
Grand total =$99.98
Family share plan, again with lowest amount of minutes
2 phones on the basic plan, no texting = $69.99, and then I think the biggest texting plan you can get is 5,000 out of network and unlimited in network for $20.00 grand total = $89.99 per month. for texting on one line
Family share select, unlimited texting on both phones = $99.99 a month .
You can play around with your price plans at www.verizonwireless.com
