Let me know,

Pink housing change...
Yesterday i managed to change the housing on my girlfriends GD to the pink one. I just wanted to share my experience with you all. Since I'm native Swedish my english isn't allways perfect but I hope you will understand me anyway

One thing that wasn't obvious when i ordered the housing (Ebay) was that only the "inside" of the housing was pink. If you have the phone closed it still is mainly silver. In other words, only the darker gray/silver area around the inner display and dialbuttons is pink...

First of all, a word of advice: be very careful! I do NOT reccomend anyone who never opened up some sort of electronic device before to even concider changing the housing by themselves.

Unfortunatley i didnt have access to my digicam so i will try to explain as detailed as i can how to do.

Step 1
There are four screws for each section of the phone. On the top display section they are located under the four drop shaped gray dampening cushions near each corner of the inner display. They are glued into place so you need some glue to put them back into place when you are finished.

On the bottom section two of the screws are visible under the battery, and the other two are hidden under the two round "white" rubber lids on each side of the HF mic on the back side (above the battery)

Remove the screws (Any kind of warranty is lost if you do this!)

Step 2
With no screws the housing easily comes apart if you use your nail, but be careful! To completly separate the darker inner part from the outer silver you need to press the two chrome sprints in the "hinge" out from the inside. Voila.
Since the outer part of the housing wasn't pink, i didn't bother to change it.

The inner bottom housing has three parts that has to be re-assembled.
1. All the buttons wich are mounted on a rubber sheet
2. A small 5x3 mm chrome magnet that is located under the # button. Mine fell out and it took a while to figure out where it belonged.
3. The mic wich has no cables has to be put back in exactly the same angle to fit the connectors on the mainboard.

The inner top housing also has three parts/steps.
1. The display window is mounted with tape/glue and pops out with a gentle press from the inside and is easy to put back on the new housing.
2. Same with the inner display window rubber seal. Just pull off and switch.
3. The ear piece was no problem to switch to the new housing since i was extra careful after reading ducvaders post about his disaster

Step 3
Put back the screws, glue the rubber cusions back into place and you have a brand new pink girlie phone

Hope this at least gives you an idea about how easy/hard it is to change the housing.

Peace

That was on the 2nd page of the forum!
