This message definitely should not be in the BlackBerry subforum. Text essage are sent directly to your phone no no configuration is necessary to receive text message. Text messageyou send require that you have the correct Short Message Service Center number (SMSC). AT&T Mobility uses the same number for the entire country: +13123149810.

My son had this happen suddenly to his v3xx. After an hour on the phone with at&t with no results a second call to them took the guy 2 minutes to fix it. Turns out he was on some older type of texting plan. The guy switched it and everything was fine.

I called at&t back and complained that I was on the phone for an hour for a problem that was fixed by the second rep in minutes. The credited me an entire months bill for my entire plan.
