I am now the proud owner of the Sony Ericsson C510a. It is a great phone. I bought an unlocked phone and went to the sony site and did the auto configure. I can't get youtube to work on the browser or the youtube app. Am I missing something?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I searched for days for an answer to this problem. After trying a number of things, I have found a way to resolve this. There is a file called customizable.xml that has a setting in the AT&T branded phones that is missing in the unbranded phones. The setting can be added with another file called customize_upgrade.xml. I created this file with the following contents:
Quote:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<customization>
<streaming>
<firewall-traversal-interval>15000</firewall-traversal-interval>
</streaming>
</customization>

Once you have this file, you have to upload it to tpa/preset/custom. To do this you need to use special software to access the GDFS of your phone. The software needed may be different depending on the phone you have. I have a W890 which is an A2 phone. So I used a program called A2 Uploader, which can be found here: http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=35439.

Once I uploaded the file, I simply restarted my phone and streaming worked (orb, youtube).

Good luck!

Complete noob here. Also have a C510a that won't run youtube. Had ATT tech support try to download settings from SE site, but still doesn't work.
I found the A2Uploader at se-nse, as well as the excellent tutorial for using it. My only question at this point: How did you create the file to which you refer (customize_upgrade.xml)?

johndoexy,

See posting by 40milesout above in this thread. Everything you need is in that mssg.

Basic steps;
1) D/L A2 Uploader application
2) D/L and install the usb flash drivers (these install on your PC not the phone).
3) Use any text editor and make the customize_upgrade.xml file
4) Start A2 Uploader and follow procedure to connect to your phone (you need the USB cable for your phone).
5) Browse in A2 Uploader to the tpa/preset/custom directory
6) Drag and drop your xml file into that folder.

Disconnect and start your phone. That's all that's to it. This is assuming you are reasonably tech savvy to follow sketchy instructions as in this thread.

Good luck,

Bob H

Hello,
I'm new at this, but I have a c510a with the same problem (YouTube not working), and I've followed the directions to a T and the YouTube application still won't work. I made sure my .xml file was coded in utf-8 and I uploaded it straight into the tpa/preset/custom folder and then I press SHUT DOWN FS MANAGER. Then I quit the A2Uploader and disconnect my phone, turn the phone back on, and YouTube still won't work. I've tried probably 20 times. Sometimes when I reconnect the phone to the A2uploader, the .xml file is still there, and sometimes it's not (it has somehow disappeared). Any ideas?

Thank you!

sadly enough, I never got the app to work. It will log in and upload videos, but not play them- The fix makes youtube work on your phone's browser. Try the browser and see if that works: m.youtube.com
