So I ordered my first p800 from hong kong (615 after shipping and 25.00 international pre-paid card) and it should be here tomorrow and I would like to ask the experts some things. I guess I want to know what are the first things I should and Should NOT do. I am using the phone with my AT&T dealer account and have read bangleboys articles and it seems to be very self explanitory. But all in all does anyone have anything that I should do "right off the bat"? Also is that girl really his girlfriend? I cant wait to get mine, wait till you guys see my lady, I promise some killer pics
Thanks ALL!!!!!

TT -- Congrats on your new phone. First thing you might want to do is download the latest sync software from the SE site. What's on the CD is most likely not the latest.

I'm not sure that there are too many don'ts. For sure, don't submerge it under water while counting til ten.

The biggest "gotcha" I've seen while perusing these boards is DO NOT FILL UP THE MEMORY. Use the supplied memory stick or purchase a larger one. Seems the only way to recover from full memory is to send your phone in to get it flashed.

Do a search here to gather the info for AT&T specific settings (for Internet access, etc.)

Other than that, you're good to go.

I am no expert, but one suggestion, based on my brief experience, is to check how up to date your firmware is. The P800 I bought had out of date firmware, and you might as well get yours up to date before you start installing software, configuring, etc.

Here is a current firmware list

You can determine your phone's firmware under Applications list, View, System information.

I secpnd Larry H's advice re current synch software. What I had on the CD was out of date. As for counting to 10 under water, I guess it depends on how fast you count.

Also, protect your valuable asset! A case and a screen protector are prudent. There are a lot of posts on this forum about these. I am going with the Vaja case ($$, but so is the P800 I am protecting) and the Overlay screens, but there are different products and opinions.

I've posted questions myself about software for the P800 so I will leave that to the experts. However, one good site is My Symbian

As for BengalBoy's lady, you will have to ask him
