With Beta 4(maybe it did with 3 I didn't try it) Vista just installed the drivers automatically via USB and I tested and my laptop was able to go online with the wireless card turned off.

I think it's more the beta version of iTunes than the iPhone OS that allows it now, but it is kind of nice.

I just wish there was a way to disable tethering in Windows (or maybe I just haven't found it). I want it always enabled on my phone so I can tether other devices over Bluetooth, but I don't want it to immediately tether when I dock it.

Turning off tethering on the phone should prevent it from connecting when you dock.

Except I specifically said I didn't want that, because I often have devices that I want to tether over Bluetooth.

I want to be able to tether any device without having to go three levels into the iPhone settings app each time...I just don't want automatic tethering when I dock it.

I have a quick question about the tethering that will be part of 3.0
Will AT&T require a new iphone data package or will that be included with the already $30 one?

I don't really have the need to tether as I have internet at work and home and most hotels now are wifi and free but for those odd times, it may come in handy
