Effective July 1, 2009:

The Fun 10 bundle will be replaced with Fun 12. The Fun 12 bundle will include Call Display and Message Centre Express for $12 per month. Plus, if you have text messages included in your Fun 10 bundle, they will be carried over to your Fun 12 bundle.1
Unlimited Text Messaging will increase from $10 to $15 per month2
Unlimited Mobile Browser will increase from $7 to $10 per month
Effective July 15, 2009:

As a courtesy to you, pay-per-user Mobile Browsertm will be capped at $5 per session*, giving you worry-free surfing.
If you enjoy downloading or using Web applications on your mobile phone, we recommend you subscribe to Unlimited Mobile Browser for only $10 per month, or choose a Fun bundle for Mobile Browser and more. You'll notice immediate savings on your next bill.

Other important changes

Effective August 1, 2009, 411 Directory Assistance will be $2.49 per call.±

bell.ca/changes

At least they posted this one on the website, so that it's easier for me to copy.

And no, you will not be grandfathered under the old price.

This likely goes for the Atlantic customers who are still paying $5 for the unlimited browser as well. I don't know for sure, as there is no specific mention of the Atlantic customers, other than in the list of effected SOC's, it lists a couple of old Aliant ones as well. But i'm not sure if those are the only aliant features available, or if there are others that will not be impacted.

My money is on everyone being effected though.

If you're getting a 100% discount for the feature, then you dont have to worry about it. If you're getting a % off, then your price will still increase, but you'll keep the same % discount.

Oh yeah, and check out those browser pay per use increases.

From $2 a session to $5

And from $30 a month to $50

Posted by: PioneerMDX

hahahaha another reason to leave Bell. Thanks.

Posted by: MacD

This also affects people on corporate accounts. So for everyone on a corp plan, and paying $7 for unlimited browser, you'll be upped to $10. Same for those paying $10 for unlimited text on a corp account. You'll be upped to $15.

Again, only if you're actually paying for these features. 100% discounts are still fine. So rest easy you Enbridge "Employees"

Posted by: fastcivic416

fun 15 and 20 bundles aren't affected?

Posted by: MacD

No, they're not.

Posted by: angekfire

Yup, it is moves like this that makes me want to just flat out leave bell once my contract is up. less than 1 year to go. Maybe GlobeAlive will have something decent to offer me.

Posted by: enraged911

would the 411 directory assistance change be enough to get out of a contract?

Posted by: SuperCM

Guess Bell is playing catch-up with TELUS. TELUS jacked their bundles a while ago.

And it looks like Rogers is playing catch-up as well with their incoming text policy.

Interesting question. Is the cost of 411 specifically spelled out on your CSA?

Posted by: enraged911

i dont even know where to look for my CSA. is it available online?

On the agreements they print out in store, 411 fees are not listed on the agreement as it's not a mobility related fee (i.e. even on a landline you get charged for 411 iirc)

Posted by: evilbaby

Well thankfully they are leaving the fun 15 and 20 bundles alone or I'd just have canceled bundle all together. These companies are getting out of hand. I guess having the highest mark-up and one of the highest ARPU's in the world just isn't enough.

Posted by: Mark I

I'm on a corp plan (but month to month) and have the following on my bill:

Code:
Text N' Wireless Web Bundle 1X 10.00 RC

Will this increase affect me as well?

Posted by: warthunder2k

What will happen in my case? Here is what I am charged right now:

I n t e r n e t m o b i l e i l l i m i t é 10,00 $
moins 28.57% Rabais promotionnel -2,86 7,14

It's always been $15/mo since November 2007ish iirc but you were grandfathered if you kept your $10/mo Unlimited Text on your account.

Hmm... I've got an old text message plan tied into my Message Centre Fax service..I wonder if they'll jack it up...

I'm sure you read what happened when I called in to fix my fax service...they were able to restore it...

Great, more price increases!

Posted by: scouzer

Glad I've got all these features at 100% discount!

Posted by: Fortissimo

Not sure how people get their 100% discount? But good for them.

Never been on Bell, but those increases seem like a lot. Unlimited SMS at 50% increase? And VM and CID shouldn't really cost that much either.

It is unfortunate that these are not protected by contracts. You will be stuck with your contracts even if they increase it by 600%, wo ha ha ha ha :-) .

Posted by: MethodMan

wait wait wait, why isn't the Canadian gov't opening up the wireless market for foreign competitors?

Carriers have such a sweet deal going for them right now. They'd raise hell.

Bell is really good at royally screwing up accounts and their policy after shafting you is giving you some nice price reductions. It took me weeks to fix my account and over 15 phone calls, so I ended up with a decent plan with lots of 100% discount features.

Posted by: ckl_88

I would be using that feature 600% more... you can be sure of that.

Posted by: vinny13

I just signed up with Bell on Friday, the day after the price increases

Lucky they gave me the now $30 unlimited text plan for $25 a month. I don't think it's that bad of a plan, glad I have it for $25 though. A little sad about the mobile web browsing, I didn't know it was $7 before... I was thinking of getting rid of my caller id and voice mail (also $10) and switching for web browsing because I don't really need it. But I don't even know how the web browsing works. Is it only $10/month and I can go on whatever website I want? What about the data used from those web pages? Do I need a data plan if I'm gonna use the web browser?

Posted by: clewis4u91

You do need to have the unlimited mobile browser feature to use any data applications (mobile browser, applications that use the web, etc...). Yes you can visit any website you want. I would recommend looking into a Fun bundle, because that would also include your call display, voicemail, and browser.

I'm sure if the government CORP plans the providers are offering didn't have a texting feature included, the politicians would gladly strike them down.

Anyone here well versed in CORP plans? Do most of them have some kind of text bundle included? I guess that's why the politicians are silent on this issue.

Most corp plans don't include text messaging. They're usually a combo of minutes/long distance minutes/call display/call waiting/call fwd/voicemail (for corp plans w/ regular phones).

I'm not sure what above posted was looking at...
Most govt-corp plans have *nothing* included at all
They pay a very low flat fee (eg $ per month to keep line open)
They are then billed based on what they use (eg $ per minute, $ per MB etc)

Corp-INDV & Corp-EPP are the include all plans (which most people are familiar with)
Corp-Corp is usually very similar to a "normal" plan, just with certain % discounts

Posted by: Abom

Heh, Latitude is now cheaper on all the features mentioned on the changes page. Nice.

Posted by: user111

So ppl on the Shoppers plan are also gonna be affected by this...10 $ per month for Mobile Browsing??

This change won't affect people that have a 100% discount on that feature.

Posted by: Cellaholic

LOL at Enbridge "employees"! HAH! I burst out loud at work when I read this!

As far as bell in concerned about a million people work for Enbridge.

ah.......EPP plans!

Posted by: frankie5string

I heard somewhere that if you piss exactly as the Moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, you're eligible for the "Aquarius" EPP... :-P

Rediculous...

Can you piss anywhere or does it have to be in a special place, like a wishing well?
What kind of discounts does this plan have?
Does it include free US voice/data roaming?
What about free phones every 3 months? (coz I like to have the latest and greatest phones)
I'm asking coz I'd like to have that plan!
I'm sure I'm good enough for it, I swear!!
I once worked for the gas industry and my great great great grandfather's best friend's uncle knew Alexander Graham Bell!!!

Puhleeeze let me have this plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: dude4

i have the CT EPP plan and it was listed as 5$ mobile browser it never mentioned a percent
what will i be paying for it when this happens?

Posted by: MacD

If you don't get a discount, you'll be upped to $10

Posted by: JustinCredible

Wow. WOW.

WHAT is Bell thinking? Especially with upcoming competition? And to jack up option prices on EXISTING accounts???

Sorry but that's unacceptable. I'd cancel in a heartbeat.

The competition isn't here yet, it'll proabably take 6+ months, imo.
And the problem with the carriers here in Canada is that they seem to believe that the only thing that is price protected in their contracts is, well...

... nothing. They screw around with anything that they please.
I doubt that would fly south of the border, but oh well, the carriers here have the powerless collusionist CRTC eating in the palms of their hands.

I got my letter last friday, and to say I was unimpressed would be an understatement!!! Yesterday I called Bell arleady to have a battle and let them know how much they were pushing to me to the competition......I had bought the touch/vouge with the $5.00 unlimited broswer in Dec of 2007.........anyway I get the Bell guy on the phone and he tells me that I will NOT be affected by the price increase becasue my plan is in a bundle with call display and voicemail ( I pay $10.00 for the three items in my bundle.)

So I am not sure why I got the letter but the rep assured me that I would not be paying a price increase and that the price would stay as is for the remaining year and a half of my contract.....he also said he made a note in my file that I called and that he told me I would not be paying a price increase for the remainder of the contract!!!!!!

So fingers crossed!!!

(it was offered last year in the spring, i think i get around 500 text messages (assuming sent, not received))

T500 message bundle isn't changing.

Also something noone else has mentioned in this thread

Free Domino Discounts are expiring as well (they now need to be factored in when working out discounts)

So alot of corp nags will no longer get that free 25% off features

you may want to have someone here double check...if you have the "Fun 10 Bundle", it will be changed to the Fun12 package and you will see a $2 price increase.

so, uncross your fingers, bend over and spread your legs.

Get what you were told in writing, in an official Bell correspondence, or, at the very least, by e-mail from the rep who told you that (on his official Bell e-mail address).
That way you can send a complaint up the ladder if things don't work out the way he told you they would.

Damn, I'm thinking that this should be stickied to every provider's forum lately
