3g and w705 ?

Hi this might sound really nooby and i am really sorry but i have my phone set up through the sony ericsson site for wap and internet i can connect to the internet but i do not see the 3g box beside my signal even when i am connecting to the internet i believe i am getting edge internet can anyone help me out is it my settings on my phone? my account? I am paying 25 $ for 500 mb of data so please help would be nice.

Which country are you in; and who is your provider? If you're on AT&T or T-Mobile in the U.S., you won't get 3G because the W705 doesn't have support for the necessary 3G frequency bands that either of those providers need.

I am in Canada my service provider is fido.
