Hey all, I need some advice here. I've been researching getting a virtual 416/647 number that can be forwarded to my winnipeg cell phone number I carry around with me here in toronto. Since I already carry a cell and a blackberry, having a 3rd pay as u go phone isn't really an option I'd like to use. Instead,i believe that if I had a virtual 416/647 number that forwarded itself to my 204 number, it would end up being the best way for ppl to reach me from here without them paying long distance.

Any suggestions or similar situations that you could share your experiences/companies you've used with? I've been researching this a lot however I haven't been able to find a definitively cost effective way that is cheaper than setting up a 3rd cell phone. Any companies that let you preview what number they would assign you before you pay them?

You can try http://www.freephoneline.ca

I'm not sure if they still have Toronto numbers or whether they allow for free forwarding to Winnipeg but I got a Toronto number from FreePhoneLine last year and I set it to forward to a Montreal number.

Hey that's a great site. I signed up for a 647 number.....is it really free if it forwards to my manitoba cell phone? Have you ever received and bills or charges when forwarded to your montreal number?

Montreal is included as a free number that it can be forwarded to. There is a limited amount of Canadian cities where you can forward the number for free. I believe that the other cities either won't work or will carry charges. You will have to check the website to see whether the exact city in Manitoba where you want to forward to is free or whether you will have to pay to forward to that number (or whether forwarding won't be possible to that number).

I believe that all the Canadian cities that you can forward to for free are: http://www.freephoneline.ca/features
Unlimited FREE Canada Wide Long Distance calling to these major cities : St. Catharines, Toronto, London, Hamilton, Montreal, Oshawa, Brampton, Cooksville, Exeter, Quebec city, Fort Erie, Bowmanville, Newcastle, Pelham, Streetsville, Clarkson, Port Credit, Malton, Windsor, Welland, Whitby, Ajax-Pickering, Brooklin, Port Perry and South Pickering.

I have never received any bill for forwarding my Toronto number to my Montreal cellphone number using this service but Montreal and Toronto are both listed as cities that work with the service. However, the forwarding service is not 100%... sometimes someone will call and the call doesn't get forwarded (at least this is what some people told me when they tried to reach me).
