Sending Pix Messages Through Different Networks

This might be a stupid question, however, it's never really been an issue for me before...
I have Verizon and one of my friends has Sprint. Recently he sent me a picture message, however, I didn't receive the message until two weeks after it was sent.
Is there any reason for this? Is it just because it's two different networks? I have gotten picture messages from people with AT&T before with no problem.

It could be a problem on either end, yours or your friends. Is it only with that one person, or are other people on Sprint able to send them to you?
There are times when I won't receive a text message from a fellow Verizon customer until the next day. Sometimes the network goes down, or gets jammed with traffic, and the request can get denied.

Thanks for the response!
Pretty much everyone I know has Verizon, so this isn't a problem I have encountered often. However, I have been able to receive picture messages from people on AT&T right after they were sent. I suppose the problem is either just with this one person or with Sprint.

I actually found out that he will receive a picture from me right away. But it still will take a while before I get his picture messages. For example, the one took two weeks before it got to my phone.

I cannot send an mms to a particular number on AT&T now. Been like this for a few weeks I guess. They say sent, but he never receives them. Who knows sometimes with all of the complicated networks.
