It has been most frustrating! I have formatted the card in the phone, used my adapter to drag and drop music in to the my_music file and the phone doesn't does not recognize that there is music there. I have been able to successfully load into the my_sounds folder and have the phone recognize those, so I know it's not an issue with the card. I have tried two different cards and neither have worked.
I like the phone other than that and have even synced my Outlook Contacts AND calendar to the phone (although Nokia was MUCH easier).
Any ideas? Could it be a bad phone? I just got it two days ago.

Are they mp3 files? How long are your filenames?

Yes, they are mp3 and normal length . . . the card works great on my old Nokia (I just got home from the gym where I listened to music on it). I have followed all the instructions on here . . . .

So . . . I finally called LG and they said that it is a software issue and to take the phone to the Verizon store and have them reload the software or to get a replacement, since it is within the 30 days . . . They were amazingly helpful and knew exactly what I was talking about - that was the very best customer service experience I could have asked for ! ! ! YEA, for LG! ! ! Customer Service # is 1-800-793-8896 then # 4

WELL . . . it wasn't that easy . . . I went by the store and they said that it wasn't a software glitch and gave me the direct line to Verizon Support, I needed to call them while I was at my computer, so here is the fix . . .
I called Verizon Support and they said the only way to transfer the music is using Rhapsody, I had bought the kit with the USB cable on Wednesday. The set-up of the software is tricky though, after inserting the CD it takes you to the Verizon site. You have to download the Music Driver AND software for V CAST Music with Rhapsody, then install them, open Rhapsody and have it load all your music. Connect the USB cable to your phone and computer, then on the phone chose the "Music" option. Rhapsody finds all your music, then in Rhapsody open "My Library" which will show the music, drag and drop albums into the "V CAST Mobile Phone - External Memory". On the Rhapsody web-site there is an option to buy the membership for $14.99, but you don't need to do that, on the left side is the option to get the Rhapsody Software, which is free (well after you buy the Music & Wireless Internet Kit from Verizon).
I think the issue is that the new phones have the updated software which requires you to use Rhapsody instead of directly dragging and dropping music on the External Memory. So a software restore wouldn't have helped. And it's no wonder that LG Support suggested exchanging the phone, the issue is with Verizon.
Verizon has you hooked on this one . . . the Music & Wireless Internet Kit is $19.99 from the store, I didn't want to wait to order one on-line, but it would have likely been cheaper.
