Nokia 6301 right softkey still stuck on T-Zones

Revisiting a topic covered in the past but not really resolved.

The right soft key on the T-Mobile Nokia 6301 cannot be re-programmed. Is there a way to fix this ? I frequently hit the button by mistake while backing out of a menu and end up accidently going to T-Zones which takes time to load and time to get-out. Plus it would be nice to use the phone as Nokia designed it.

I just used the unlock code that T-Mobile provided but the Right Softkey is still stuck on T-Zones. I also upgraded the firmware from the Nokia web site and no change. The unlock code lets the phone use other carriers SIM cards but doesn't get rid of other T-Mobile locks.

you need to de-brand the phone to get rid of that. I know the 6300 is the unlocked/unbranded version of the 6301, but I do not know if the 6300 firmware product code can be flashed to the 6301. It is a matter of finding the unbranded product code and flashing your phone using NSU.

^ Debrand it w/ the Euro 6301 generic firmware will take care of it. However, you may lose the T-Mo @Home UMA call, T-Zones configuration after flashing it w/ diff firmware. Backup the settings first. Get some insights: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1388899

The 6300 does not support WiFi calls. I picked this phone after testing others because it had the most reliable WiFi calling. I use it in my office all day . so I can't give up the unmetered UMA calling.

Is it possible to buy a 6301 without the T-Zones but still have it work with WiFi ?

thanks.

why dont you re-brand it to the fido 6301? its not as locked up as the T-Mobil version

How do I rebrand it to the Fido 6301 ? I have a hard time telling the difference between an update versus a complete system reflash that replaces the applications that are locked by the carrier.

Thanks
