3 phone to 1, VOIP question

Hey guys,
For various reasons, I happen to carry 3 phones. However, within the next month, I am going to one. Each one is from a different company, and each has provided me with great service. However, time to depart.
I have 3 phones, S, V, and L. S is my primary phone, but, will get turned off at the end of the month. The coverage works in bout 70% of where I am all the time.
V if my best service (and a pretty good minute plan,) and has the best coverage, but, I can't change equipment or upgrade without losing some of the options that make it so great (it's an older, grandfathered plan.) Where I live, it's the absolute best coverage.
I am going to L, which does very good around here, but, is spotty in some areas, and it is hard to travel in. It's unlimited everything for this local coverage area, but, if I ever leave, I only have 200 roaming minutes, and outside of the Nextel netowrk, it won't work at all.
I am thinking of going with L, and getting a prepaid for when we travel.
With out knowing more, does that sound like a good option?
Also, and this is my primary concern..
I have had S for almost 9 years. EVERYONE has that number. I can't port it to my L number, becuase my L is my work number, and if I ever leave here, it will be hard to get that number again.
Anyway, I was thinking about porting my S number to a VOIP, and maybe getting the calls forwarded to my L number. That will be the best option. That being said, if all the calls are forwarded to my L number, the Caller ID will register my VOIP number, and not the original number that called, right?
And, if I place an outgoing call, how can I make it show from my S number, if I have ported it to a VOIP number?
Just looking for ideas.
Jeremy

Im curious what carriers you have, you kind of sound like me lol.
The V sounds like Sprint? The L sounds like Cricket/Metro but you said Nextel...
MagicJack said they will allow porting "early 2009" - I have not seen anything if they allow it yet, but if they do its basically $12-$20 a year for unlimited VOIP.
