Has anyone been accessing webmail or surfing via mobile phones in mainland China?
What is the best service provider, how is it set up, how much does usage cost?
Does the coverage reach smaller towns?

I use it on a daily basis. Best service provider would be China Unicom. It's EDGE, soon to switch to HSDPA (7.2M). They charge either by time or by usage. Time is 100RMB/month for 100hr or 200RMB/month for 200hr. Else it's 10RMB for 30MB, 20RMB for 150MB, 50RMB for 500MB, 100RMB for 2GB.
